☕ This Café Run Went Left… Right Into The Human Bean

What starts as a simple café run quickly goes off script… and somehow ends at The Human Bean. A few wrong turns, unexpected stops, and classic mishaps — but hey, that’s the adventure. ☕👀

💼 New Job, Who Dis?

Welcome back to another adventure with the WondaLove Sisters! Toni and I are now living in different cities — but same state. Somebody say new job?! Woot woot 🎉

Even though we’re not in the same zip code, we’ve decided to still find adventure wherever we are and connect by experiencing similar things.

☕ Mission One: Go to a Café

Now let’s be clear: your girl is not a coffee drinker and I’m very much a homebody. So cue the eye roll when Toni’s bubbly personality isn’t around to urge me out the house… or really, to plan isshhh.

Because who’s the planner in this duo? Not me. And this café run would prove exactly that.

💃 “Getting Cute” (Kinda)

I decided to get cute, which in my vocabulary means: shower, put on a dress, and don’t stink. 😂 Meanwhile, Toni — being the efficient being that she is — was already sending me pictures from a café at 9 frickin' AM.

I mean… who even leaves their house that early? Obviously, Toni.

🧠 Realizing I Had No Plan

By noon, I was finally ready to head out when I realized I never picked a café. 🙃
Absent-minded much? Lol.

So what did I do? What any self-respecting millennial would do — I got undressed.
LOL I’m joking. I Googled cafés near me.

🧭 Enter: Qahwa Café

I picked Qahwa Café solely based on the name. I was excited — because an unrecognizable name usually means a new experience. I turned up my Bluetooth (Jamaican loud — don’t judge me) and headed to the café that was 20+ minutes away... passing about five others that were 5 minutes from home.

But hey — adventure, here I come.

🕌 Detour #1: The Mosque Mishap

I pulled up and was like, wait… is this a mosque?
Inshallah (hope I’m using that right 😅).

Turns out the café was either inside or attached to the mosque. I saw a young lady going in dressed in her hijab and abaya, and I looked down at my short dress hugging my milkshakes a little too tightly.

Yeahhh… changing course.
Did I mention I’m not the planner?

🛍️ Detour #2: Goodwill Got Me

But I drove all this way, so a café was gonna get my money today — by hook or by crook.

I checked Google again and saw another café 7 minutes away. Easy enough… until I missed the turn and ended up at Goodwill.

You already know what happened next.

I went shopping. 😂 Walked away with a dress, a nice work top, and a skirt.
Spent $30+. Talk about expensive. Northern Virginia got my wallet crying. In Southwest VA, that same $30 could’ve gotten me a whole wardrobe. No cap. or so the GEN-Zers say it.

☕ Finally: The Human Bean

I pulled myself together and drove five more feet (literally) and found The Human Bean. To my surprise, it was drive-thru only — no indoor seating.

But the server was super nice, and when I said it was my first time and I don’t drink coffee (don’t come for me 😩), she gave some good suggestions. I ended up with a sausage and egg biscuit and a strawberry smoothie — which honestly slapped. And all under $16.

I sat in my car, AC blasting, music up, and enjoyed my little snack after such an unnecessarily eventful afternoon.

🐱 Home to Mr. Screams-A-Lot

When I finally got home, I was greeted by my cat — yelling at the top of his lungs like I left him for dead. Sir, I was gone for three hours. Relax.

💭 Until Next Time, WondaLovers...

So if you're looking for a quick pick-me-up, check out The Human Bean.
As for Qahwa Café… maybe I’ll try again another day — this time with a little more planning and a little less bustiness 😅

Until next time,
